Surgery Update
Sammy had his surgery this past Tuesday and I must say how absolutely proud I am of him. He did better than we ever imagined. He did much better than his dad and I did that's for sure.
The nurses and staff at the Women and Children's Center were so wonderful and they were so kind and gentle with Sammy. We arrived at 6:30 to get prepped and surgery was at 8:30am. During the two hour wait they made it so much fun for him. They brought him toys, let him play in the playroom and really help put him at ease.
The surgery lasted roughly 30 minutes and they ran a catheter, needle and scope through his penis and injected his bladder, ureter tube, and kidney with medication to unblock the tube that connects his bladder and kidneys.
Once in recovery he was very groggy and scared but was happy to see us when we walked into the room.
We got our list of what he can and cannot do and by 11:00am we were heading home.
The Demerol they prescribed for him caused him to vomit but we gave him a lower dose and it seems to be working well.
We told him that he could have anything he wanted to eat after his surgery and of all the places he had to chose from, he choose Little Cesar's Pizza. Since it was lunch time and he was not able to have breakfast he was starving and downed 5 slices of pizza.
Right now he is agitated that he can't play and do all the things he wants to do but we have to keep reminding him that he just had surgery and his insides need to heal.
He missed out on the circus field trip with his class yesterday and he was upset about that, but his best friend Donaven and his mother came over with a gift that they had bought Sammy from the circus so that really brightened his day.
I think by Monday he will be able to go back to school but he will have some restrictions in place. He has been through a lot and I hope the worst is behind him now.
He will still have give urine samples once every 3 months, and will have to have another VGUC in a year. I'm unsure of how long he'll be on medication but the doctor said roughly a year depending on how things go. We are just keeping our fingers crossed that this surgery fixed things and he won't have to endure any more surgeries.

Promoting Autism Awareness My Way
So I have been tinkering around with the idea of getting another tattoo for awhile now.
I have one hidden on my back and one on my chest which is rarely seen by others unless I'm wearing a low cut blouse which isn't that often.
I decided that this time I wanted something visible to honor my son and also promote Autism awareness. I looked at probably hundreds of tattoo's before I made my final decision.
I must say that I am absolutely in LOVE with my new tattoo. It's larger than what I had initially intended on getting but now that I have it it's absolutely 100% perfect. My mothers eyes nearly popped out of her head when she saw it and immediately said it was to big. Then she told me it wouldn't be easy to hide in the summer. I informed my mother that I have no intentions of, "hiding" it. I WANT people to see it and get the message from it. If I hide it then what's the point.
Without further adieu here are some pictures of my awesome new tattoo.
